What to Expect from More of the Same
Since the time of Jonathan Morris’ previous presidency (from 2017 to 2018) owners can always expect two things every election when the Board Majority is in charge: abusing authority to interfere with election(s) and offering residents carbon copy candidates. In addition to incumbent Bonnie Gold and Sam Kuckley, this year’s clones include Jonathan Morris and Alvin Thaler.
Jonathan Morris:
Past Performance is a Predicter of Future Performance & Mr. Morris’ past management practices encourages continuance of the current status Quo. Ms. Davina Oliver’s lawsuit alleges that:
Management buried and/or destroyed records that would otherwise support her claim(s)
That false complaint(s) were submitted against Ms. Oliver in retaliation
Ms. Oliver alleges that management subjected her to dehumanizing treatment as further forms of retribution and retaliation
1) Under Jonathan Morris’ presidency in 2017, a unit owner/resident (original complainant) filed a complaint alleging that a board member threatened her with a ban from the playroom after the two had a conflict. That complaint, while brought to Mr. Morris’s attention that January, was never addressed by the board until August 2017, 8 months later. While the original complainant had made multiple follow-ups in January, their 4th follow-up in August was only given attention due to public out-cry over Iowa Sports employee(s) expressing unfair treatment and abuse by management and a “health club committee member”. This committee member was also the same board member identified in the complaint filed in January 2017.
2) On September 29th, after making their follow-up to management, the complainant was informed that a “third party complaint” (3p complainant) had been filed against them; the original complainant was never made aware of this or any complaints made against her and was alarmed that she was only notified of said complaint until 8 months after the incident. She stated that she felt like she was “being bullied further” by this person and their abuse of authority.
3) Thereafter, the original complainant was offered mediation between themselves and the board member but were blown off 3 times: once by management, and at least once by the board member. Their final request was to make a statement at the annual meeting and have it recorded in the minutes. This request was not met. The following year, in 2018, the unit owner sold her apartment and left the building because she felt so uncomfortable living in the Corinthian after the experience.
Alvin Thaler:
At this past October 17th’s Meet the Candidate Night, Mr. Thaler went against the rules set by the moderator and used his time to continue to promote a go-fund-me page he started for the Kims this past summer, in an unsuccessful attempt to promote his candidacy while disparaging another candidate by name. While the moderator would not give that candidate an opportunity to respond to Mr. Thaler’s direct name-calling, thanks to a question from a unit owner, the candidate was given the opportunity to respond and explained what happened with the packages this past summer. We encourage you to read the article (coming soon) regarding the Kims behavior with packages and would like to make you aware that the woman pilloried by Mr. Thaler this past summer through his weaponizing of the go-fund-me platform won her lawsuit against the Kims and received monetary compensation in addition to her apology.
The woman represented herself while Mr. Thaler raised over $11,000 for the Kims to hire a lawyer. It is not clear where those funds went exactly and is presumed to have gone toward the Kim’s legal representation.
Update: Alvin Thaler resigned his candidacy but was given access to the Corinthian Board of Manager’s email list to promote his other three followers: Jonathan Morris, Bonnie Gold & Sam Kuckley
